The stereomicroscope is designed to work with volumetric samples and to study their structural elements; it conveys the volume of the object and the relief of its surface. The MAGUS Stereo 8T model is equipped with built-in illuminators for transparent and opaque samples. The available options include working in polarized light and the darkfield method (only with additional accessories).
Greenough’s optical design features two autonomous optical channels: It is as if a person is examining an enlarged object with their own eyes. This design produces a sharp and authentic 3D image thanks to a 15° stereoscopy angle. The image of the object is magnified while maintaining its position in space, and so it is convenient to work on. The model is suitable for restoration work, soldering, and joining parts, checking the sample’s compliance with quality standards, etc.

The microscope head includes two eyepiece tubes and a separate tube for the camera. A separate feature of the head is its rotating mechanism: It can be locked in any position up to a 360° rotation. Complete eyepieces with a magnification of 10x and a field of view of 22mm are equipped with a diopter adjustment mechanism and long eye relief that is convenient for users with glasses. You can change the camera’s zoom or field of view using a C-mount adapter with its own magnifying lens.

The objective simultaneously changes the magnification and focal length, keeping the subject in focus at all times; its zoom ratio is 8.4:1. The object is viewed in the same position in which it is placed on the stage. Auxiliary objective lenses change the magnification or field of view and also affect the working distance of the microscope.

The MAGUS Stereo 8T model has a coarse and fine focusing system. Its knobs are on the same axis and are located on both sides of the stand. Fine focusing is useful when working at high magnifications. The user can adjust the stiffness of the coarse focusing travel.

The characteristics of the sample dictate the choice of plate for the microscope stage. A transparent plate is used to observe samples in transmitted light. With it, the lighting is soft and uniform. An opaque black-and-white plate is suitable for observations in reflected light. The object is placed on it so as to be contrasting.

The object is lit by LED illuminators, transmitted light, or reflected light from oblique lighting. Both illuminators have 3W power and a lifespan of 50,000 hours.

The advantage of this line of microscopes is the wide variety of additional components. The model can be equipped with eyepieces or auxiliary objective lenses, a digital camera, and accessories for working in the darkfield method or in polarized light. Different types of illuminators will direct the light the way the user needs and make the work more efficient. A line of stands will allow you to position the microscope head in the desired position.
