The Masuyama Ortho Plössl (MOP) series with 85° AFOV (Apparent Field Of View) offers a modified Plössl optical scheme with 5 lenses in 3 groups, to which it adds modern multi-coated (FMC - Fully Multi-Coated) optical treatments with very high light transmittance and high refractive index lenses. All lenses have blackened edges.

The mechanics and ergonomics, as per Japanese custom, are also particularly well taken care of.

A prominent feature of these models is the apparent field of as much as 85°, while retaining an optical scheme derived from the Plössl. The result is an eyepiece with orthoscopic behavior of very high contrast and low stray light, with an overall yield at the highest level. Even visual purists will be able to appreciate the very high yield offered by this eyepiece. To best appreciate the performance of this high apparent field series, use on high focal ratio instruments (F/10 and above) is recommended.
