Sharpstar 50EDPH is the latest arrival to the Sharpstar EDPH family. It has caught the spotlight for its aesthetic and streamline appeal since its entry to the market. Sharpstar 50EDPH features triplet air-spaced lens structure, including two ED (extra-low dispersion) glass ensuring a pleasing application in both visual observation and astrophotograph. This can effectively eliminate the chromatic aberration thus produce more detailed and higher-contrast images.
 
The aperture size is 50 mm, and the focal length is 275 mm, so the focal ratio is F/5.5. The whole length of the main tube is only 198 mm when used with the dew shield contracted. Its compactness makes it a great companion for your outdoor sky observation as it can be easily packed in travelling bags.
 
The rigorous and precise optical and mechanical design is the warranty for the performance of Sharpstar 50EDPH. A dedicated 0.84x / F/4.6 APS-C reducer makes the ingenious device further ascend among the high-end, fast-focal-ratio astrographs.

Optical and mechanical check before delivery

Sharpstar inspects any instrument with their interpherometer in order to deliver the highest quality possible. Any optics sold by Skypoint is thouroughly tested with our optical bench. Testing includes also a deep mechanical check so that you will be sure to get a perfectly collimated instrument without mechanical defects that may occurs during import from China.

50EDPH 0.84x focal reducer

The 0.84x reducer can bring Sharpstar 50EDPH's focal ratio down to F4.6. This is a standard reducer with field flattening capabilities as well. A shorter focal ratio allows the OTA to have a wider field of view and faster exposure times, making it suitable for capturing large areas of nebulae, star clusters, and faint, fast-moving celestial objects.

The 0.84x reducer adopts a quadruplet design and supports an APS-C frame. The overall weight is 0.24 Kg. The back focus from the M48 thread is a standard 55 mm. The front thread is M42x1 and the camera end thread is M48x0.75. At the same time, it has a built-in 2-inch filter thread, which can be directly installed and used. The overall CNC machined, both end threaded metal caps prevent ash when not in use.
