Spectroscope A Star Filter Analyzer
The Star Analyser 100 is a high efficiency 100 lines/mm transmission diffraction grating, blazed in the first order. It is mounted in a standard 1.25 inch diameter threaded cell, to be compatible with most telescopes. It has been designed to make the production of low resolution spectrum images of a wide range of point like astronomical objects as easy as possible. It complements a wide range of types of camera used in astro-imaging.

Un reticolo di diffrazione produce diversi spettri dello stesso oggetto a diversi angoli (primo ordine, secondo ordine e così via), con dispersione sempre più elevata ma intensità decrescente: la supeficie a dente di sega dello Star Analyser invece permette di collocare nel primo ordine tutto il flusso luminoso dell’oggetto ripreso, che diversamente verrebbe disperso negli ordini superiori.
Questo permette non solo di avere uno spettro più luminoso e quindi di poter puntare anche oggetti poco luminosi come piccole nebulose planetarie ma anche consente di posizionare sullo stesso campo di ripresa sia l'oggetto ripreso che, accanto, il suo spettro di primo ordine: una notevole facilitazione per la calibrazione dello spettro.
Il reticolo è montato all’interno di una cella da 31.8mm per poter essere avvitato su oculari o adattatori fotografici come un comune filtro colorato.
Principali attività svolte dallo Star Analyser:
- rilevare e identificare le linee di assorbimento delle stelle più luminose e quindi classificare una stella
- riprendere spettri di oggetti con righe di assorbimento isolate (ad esempio le nebulose planetarie)
- misurare il redshift di quasar luminosi (esempio 3C 273 )
- riprendere spettri di supernovae e effettuarne la classificazione
